Detailed Directions, Phone, Email
We are overjoyed that you have found this wonderful opportunity to experience La Quebrada Del Amor. First, please look at our beautiful pictures and description of the unique offering in the post below titled "Life at La Quebrada".
Here's a more detailed set of directions:
Once in Iquitos get a moto to Puerto Nanay (Boat Port Nanay). This should not be more than 3 soles. From there take a boat to Padre Cocha, they will probably try to charge you 8 soles but don't pay more than 3 soles (1.50 soles is the local price). It's a 20 minute boat ride. There is a butterfly sanctuary in Padre Cocha that tourists sometimes like to go to. If you get off at the main port at Padre Cocha and walk straight through the square. You are going to walk straight on this road for 25 minutes. Probably halfway down there will be a bridge (i think with red roof) on your left. Swerve off the trail onto this path and go across the bridge. Continue for another 15 minutes. There will be a soccer field on the right.. keep going... direct you. Your going to pass a sign that says "Mama Ukka" on your left after she soccer field. Keep going straight for another couple minutes. Then there is a little Y. The littler path to the Left is the path to their property. If you have walked for more than an hour, you may have made a wrong turn. Backtrack and you may see someone that can direct you. If you see anyone, it might help to ask " Donde esta La Quebrada del Amor?" "The riverbend of love". Or La Familia Tangoa.
If your Spanish is good over the phone and have reason to call ahead, use Skype and dial (+51) 65616748 and someone from the family in the village should be able to talk with you. This is costly for them though, so please limit your conversation. We will check our email gaianpath@gmail.com every few days to respond to travelers interested in visiting and helping, so if you have any questions we are happy to respond. They welcome all with open and loving hearts.
ENJOY!!!
